HDH: Part 4. Stopping On Highway's Shoulder

READ

  • Stopping your coach on the shoulder or side of the road should only happen if an emergency arises

  • As brief a time as possible

  • If you must pull over, activate turn signal, slow down, activate hazards

  • Re-entry→ check mirrors to identify an opening, turn off hazards, left turn signal, move out gradually when opportunity arises

  • When passing a vehicle stopped on highway, signal left, move over into left lane, pass, check mirror, signal right, return to right lane

  • Move over laws are required in every state (except HI) if you can’t move left because of traffic conditions, you must significantly lower your speed or face hefty fines
