Troy Nold graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2007 with a B.A. in International Studies, and Modern Languages and Cultures. He commissioned in the U.S. Army and was subsequently assigned to the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division in Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he served as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Weapons Company Executive Officer, and Battalion Rear Detachment Commander. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 2011. Captain Nold recently completed a one-year Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Certificate Program at the University of Virginia, and he is pursuing medical school in order to continue military service as a physician. Troy is a National Security Research Fellow at the Critical Incident Analysis Group (CIAG) located at the UVa School of Medicine, and also he volunteers with ParadeRest, a Charlottesville non-profit that welcomes home and expresses gratitude to military service members, veterans, and their families.
